Once every so often, a car maker sets out to make a point. In doing so, they discover something that captures the hearts of buyers around the world. For Hyundai Motors, that’s what happened with the Hyundai i30 N. While discovering the limits of the Hyundai i30 hatchback in Namyang, their Korean test centre, the Hyundai i30 N was borne.
It’s the result of Hyundai Motors’ efforts to build a high performance car on the i30 platform. What could have been just a mild upgrade or new trim became something special – worthy of the ‘N’ badges. The Hyundai i30N makes the i30 hatchback extraordinary, centered fully on performance.
To prove that it’s an extremely capable high performance car, it went from Namyang to the Nürburgring in Germany where its mettle was tested. And now, it’s nearly set to be released to the public.
The Hyundai i30 N begins under the bonnet. A turbocharged 2.0-liter GDi four-cylinder engine uses direct injection to accomplish an impressive 184kW with standard tuning. With the Performance Package chosen, the i30 N makes 202kW of power and a maximum 353Nm of torque. When equipped with the Performance Package, the Hyundai i30 N goes from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 6.2 seconds.
There’s more to it than just an engine, though. Four drive modes mean the i30 N can be tailored to your mood and driving conditions at the press of a button. Electronically-Controlled Suspension also offers 3 modes – Normal, Sport, and Sport+ - to modify the damping force depending on the style of driving and your surroundings. Rev Matching is standard equipment for more precise shifts.
Package ups the ante in the Hyundai i30 N. Its electronically-controlled
Limited Slip Differential (E-LSD) distributes torque between the front wheels
in real-time to keep your i30 N on the path you’ve set. You can also change the
exhaust note between four different settings, as soft or aggressive as you
The interior is
as special as the i30 N’s performance, amplifying the driving experience. The
front seats are heavily bolstered to keep you firmly in place and in control.
Only the i30N has the N-line steering wheel complete with a dedicated N-mode
button, a first for Hyundai Motors. And the centre stack houses not only
automatic climate controls and a phenomenal audio system, but also integrates
an N-specific race computer. Keep track with a lap timer, G-force meter, boost
gauge, and programmable custom drive-mode control.
It goes fast standing still. The Hyundai i30 N features the same overall four-door hatchback design as the i30 but adds a roof-mounted spoiler, more aggressive new front and rear fascia, and dramatic lighting. The Performance Package also includes red calipers with the N logo and larger brake discs, 19-inch alloy wheels, and Pirelli P-Zero high performance tires.
It’s a high performance car that’s perfect for the roads in New South Wales. Look for the new Hyundai i30 N coming soon to your local Hyundai dealer in Bankstown, Peninsula Motor Group.
